Exposing live BP fuel supply pipeline at Perth Airport

The existing BP fuel supply pipeline at Perth International Airport needed to be lowered to enable a major airport expansion. The work site was in close proximity to air traffic which could not be interfered with.

Due to its critical nature and requirement for the pipeline to remain fully operational during the project, the West Coast Civil team chose our DryVac vacuum excavator to perform the excavations over and around the pipeline safely and efficiently.
Using high-pressure air instead of water ensured that the pipeline coating was not damaged during the excavation. By keeping the excavated material dry, it was able to be used as backfill, avoiding costly and time-consuming disposal. With our 8m3 onboard debris container with stainless steel lining we minimised time spent on offloading. Our patented filtration system kept the air around the planes clear of contaminants. The BP representative was full of praise on how our DryVac delivered this project safely and efficiently, particularly since it has only been the second time in BP history that a project of this kind has been executed.
