Working with SRM at the Peel Business Park, the scope included safely excavating around existing live electrical infrastructure in preparation of installation of additional transformers.
Challenges included existing inground infrastructure, working around live electrical cables, limited accessibility and ensuring that groundworks did not undermine existing structures.
Using our SCS DryVac excavator with its long reach arm, we were able to perform the work from outside the existing enclosure. Using high-pressure air instead of water we ensured that cables were not damaged and existing transformer foundations remained intact. Keeping the spoils dry enabled them to be used as backfill, thus avoiding costly disposal and enabling us to stay on site.
